I found joy in my role at LinkedIn until the day I received the news that my contract was ending—a realisation that hit me hard. While I knew the nature of contingent work meant my time there would eventually come to an end, I couldn't help but hope that my dedication would earn me a permanent spot on the team.
As the days turned into weeks and the festive season came and went, I found myself at a crossroads, facing the daunting task of job hunting in a competitive market. Despite my best efforts—updating my CV, customising cover letters, and spending countless hours applying for roles—the responses I received were mostly rejections. It's disheartening to put your all into something only to face disappointment time and again. The cycle of hope and rejection has been tough to navigate, leaving me feeling drained and discouraged.
But amidst the challenges, I refuse to give up. Instead, I'm exploring new avenues, like building this website, in the hopes of catching the eye of potential employers. I know I'm not alone in this struggle, as countless others are also seeking employment in a tough job market. It's a reminder that we're all in this together, navigating the highs and lows of the journey. And while the road ahead may be uncertain, I'm determined to keep pushing forward, knowing that perseverance is key to eventual success.
